CRS stands for Common Reporting Standard and it is an information standard for automatic exchange of tax and financial information on a global level. This standard was developed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and its purpose is to combat tax evasion. The idea of CRS is based on Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) implementation agreements and its legal basis is the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters. So far, 102 countries have committed to this global exchange of tax and financial information.
